The Owl (Athene noctua)
In Greek mythology, the owl, was associated with Athena, the goddess of wisdom, handicraft, warfare, patron and protectress of the city of Athens. In the Ancient Greek art the goddess is usually holding an owl on her hand or her shield is often decorated with an owl.
